Sahara Atlas Mountains.. Morocco,,
Leaving from Marrakech our guide and now friend Hassan armed with a 4x4 truck gave us a 2 day tour through the majestic Atlas mountains climbing to over 2000 mtr at times revealing some breathtaking landscape before a descent to the gateway of the Sahara Desert. This shot is just an example of how diverse and rugged these canyons are in contrast to the lush and exotic colour of the mountains later in this range which I have shots off. This Mars like terrain was obviously a river bed at some stage and its hard to put some scale on this but you can take my word for it they are massive!!
High Atlas Mountains.. Morocco,,
Here is a shot I took in the High Atlas Mountains, a complete contrast to the Sahara Atlas and lower climbs these high Atlas valleys are fertile since the high peaks force the clouds to give away large quantities of rainfall. You can see why I was drawn to coming here as the Atlas mountains the longest Mountain range in Africa shows incredible colour and contrast for 2400 km. Probably the most colour I have ever encountered in a landscape rich in minerals and a place to exhale! Wow ;-)
Tizi n’Tichka Pass... Morocco..
Climbing this Serpent Road or Tizi n’Tichka Pass to the highest pass in Morocco is quite an experience. Looking at the other shots you can see the scenery always changing throughout these mountains. Reaching 2,260m the road snakes through the verdant foothills and pisé villages of the High Atlas, before a series of hairpin bends takes you to the summit of the pass. The landscape then changes, with arid peaks, rocky outcrops and ksour filling the pre-Saharan landscape. Great road a tad dangerous but most spectacular views on this paved mountain.
